I lost most of my vision two years ago and needed to retire from my life as an Engineer. An artist my entire life and now with a severe vision impairment, I decided to explore my creativity more in depth as a visual artist. I have been a student at the Dunedin Fine Art Center in the Tampa Bay area for the past year, until Helene destroyed my home and everything I own.
I currently use the Intuitive Painting process to create works of abstract expressionism in acrylic on canvas. All of my paintings tell a story of a brief moment in time in the manner of a blog post or journal entry, such as an observation, an experience, a hope. A poem is painted onto the canvas, or an intention, and from there I let the painting emerge, and tell me what it is. At times I use a collage technique with shapes and colors to create the impression of objects, such as waves, mountains, faces, delight.
